"I've
got three kits in all, two that I use for teaching and one for
gigs. They're all Premier and have Zildjian cymbals. The main
teaching kit is a Signia maple set-up with 22" bass drum
and 10", 12" and 14" rack toms and a 14"x61/2"
snare - on that kit I've got 13" K?Z hi-hats, a 16"
K Dark Medium crash, a 16" Dark Thin crash, and a 20"
K Custom Dry ride. The second teaching kit is set up for left-handers
and is a Signia Marquee with the same bass drum and tome sizes
as the first, but with a 14"x5" snare. The cymbals are
13" K/Z Brilliant hats, a 16" K Dark Thin crash, a 15"
Dark Thin crash, and a 20" K Heavy Jazz ride (once used by
Tony Williams at a UK clinic).
The final kit I use for gigs is an Artist Birch with a small 18"
bass drum, and with that I Just use 10" and 12" racks,
a 14" floor tom and a 14"x5" snare. The cymbals
are a 20" K Custom Dry Light ride, a 17" Re-Mix ride,
a 15" Dark Thin crash, 14" K Custom Special Dry hi-hats
and a 10" K splash. I use Vic Firth sticks and Protection
Racket cases."
